Procedure

1. Drive the front of the car onto ramps to raise the front of the car. Lift the rear of the car with jacks to make the car level.
2. Locate the transmission under the car.
3. Locate the drain and fill bolts on the transmission. Please note that these bolts are on extremely tight and you may need a long breaker bar to loosen them. This can be a problem with the fill bolt on the side of the transmission housing as there's not much room to maneuver there. You will need to find a breaker bar with a relatively low profile socket attachment point, as well as a relatively low profile socket.
4. Remove the fill bolt first. The reason you want to remove the fill bolt first is because you don't want to remove the drain bolt first and have all of the fluid drain out and then realize that you can't remove the fill bolt to refill the fluid!
5. Once the fill bolt is removed you can go ahead and remove the drain bolt. Be ready with the drainpan because as soon as you remove the drain bolt the transmission fluid will start spilling out of the hole. In this picture the fluid has already been completely drained.
6. Locate your fluid pump.
7. Insert the fluid pump into a bottle of Redline D4 ATF.
8. Once all of the old transmission fluid has drained, replace the drain bolt and torque it to 37 ft-lbs. Please note that there is no washer for this bolt. Then stick the dispensing tube from the fluid pump into the fill hole on the side of the transmission housing.
9. Pump the contents of the entire bottle into the transmission. Then open another bottle of fluid and pump just enough until the fluid begins to leak out of the fill hole. You only need a little more than 1 quart of fluid as the specifications say that the fluid capacity for the transmission is 1.1 quarts.
* Note that the transmission in the 330i has a fluid capacity of 1.3 quarts, not 1.1 quarts like in the 325i.
10. Replace the fill bolt and torque it to 37 ft-lbs. Please note that there is no washer for this bolt. Start the engine and run the shifter through the gears with your foot on the clutch. With the car running in neutral, check for leaks under the car. If nothing is leaking, lower the car and you're done!
